Ride a Super Jeep from Vik to Kötlujökull Glacier, then walk into a natural ice cave beneath Katla Volcano. A certified guide leads the short glacier route, explains the ice and volcano, and supplies a helmet and crampons. Guides such as Hawk, Gaby, Syra, and Edgar are praised for making the trip both safe and entertaining.

“Incredible, other-worldlike experience! There was more hiking than we expected (one family member was older) and maybe less time in the cave itself. But amazing scenery and we could take it slow, and the provided crampons were invaluable. Definitely needed fully waterproof jacket/pants that day, and I was happy I brought hiking boots. Our guide Natalia was fantastic—so much great information. Would highly recommend thus tour!”

From the Mýrdalsjökull base near Vík, you’ll ride two people per ATV across river crossings, Katla’s black lava sands, the coast, the famous aircraft wreck, and mountain tracks. Guides such as Anthony, Hannis, Remmy, and Bjarki add safety tips, local knowledge, and plenty of photo help. A driver’s license is required.

“We had amazing time! The airplane stop was an added bonus that we didn’t know about and loved. We did have several people on the tour that were very interested in taking 6billion pictures so it was a bit annoying waiting for them to get the perfect pic instead of getting out and enjoying it in real time. The guides were kind and wonderful.”

“Honestly the highlight of my trip! The guide was absolutely incredible and really made the effort with us. We went to the airplane crash site and black sand beach and it was amazing. He had a lot of knowledge and took lots of photos for us. The tour was just myself and my partner and it was actually really nice just being us! The route we took seemed to be more on the challenging side but it was amazing! Moments where I felt slightly nervous the guide was there to help. Highly recommend!”

“Ragnar provided a day filled with laughter, fun, and education. My partner and I loved every minute of the day-trip. We hiked to a few remote spots with incredible geology, passed through fun rivers in the Super Jeep, had lunch in Thor's Valley, then hiked an incredible mountain for wonderful pictures and views. Ragnar really did a great job including everyone and helping everyone (he even stood in the stream to help all of us cross it). Ragnar and Midgard Base Camp provided an amazing all day adventure for those who are up for the fun. Would absolutely go back and will miss this great day.”
